Research summary
Warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA)is a type of autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack red blood cells causing them to die before they should.
This research study is being conducted to help understand how complement (a part of your immune system that is important for protecting you against infection by bacteria and viruses) is causing red blood cells to die in people with wAIHA.
Patients in this study will be asked to provide a blood sample. This blood sample will be evaluated to confirm wAIHA diagnosis and to determine whether complement is contributing to wAIHA. Although patients will not derive immediate benefit from participation in this research study, the laboratory data collected will be used to understand whether the patients may benefit from complement inhibition therapy in the ANX005-wAIHA-02 clinical study.
Up to approximately 100 patients with wAIHA will be enrolled on to the study worldwide.
