  • Research summary

This is a prospective observational study to assess the effect of antibiotics on the organisms that are usually found in the bladder. Our research group (and others) have identified that the bladder is rarely sterile but usually contains some micro organisms. Patients with an overactive or irritable bladder seem to have different organisms to those who have no bladder dysfunction. We often treat overactive bladder symptoms with antibiotics. This study aims to identify what happens to the micro organisms in the bladder after treatment with antibiotics.
