Research summary
Blood vessel changes in the skin help cause psoriasis. Over the last decade a number of drugs, which specifically target blood vessels, have been developed for the treatment of other medical conditions. There is some evidence that these therapies could help treat psoriasis. This project is designed to explore the scientific basis for development of a new anti-blood vessel treatment approach for patients with psoriasis. The treatment administered during this study will be used on tissue samples taken from patients as a proof of concept investigation. This work will also identify whether administering such therapy at a time of day when sensitivity to therapy is maximal, may benefit those with psoriasis even more. Such an approach would allow for development of a novel, targeted, personalised treatment for psoriasis sufferers.
