Research summary
Gamified virtual reality is hypothesized to provide a motivational form of exercise which would increase adherence to exercise programmes. However, the research in this area is lacking and further research is required to determine the effectiveness of gamified virtual reality and whether it is an effective means of increasing adherence to exercise. The aims of this study are to bio-mechanically analyse the movements induced by various virtual reality games. We will also investigate each games' potential impact on increasing motivation to exercise through the use of questionnaires. This will allow us to determine to what extent each game induces exercise and motivates participation. This data will be utilized within further research to create VR programmes for fitness, rehabilitation and therapy for both mental and physical health.
