Research summary
Study will be using antibody GD3G7 on archive tissue specimens of bowel and breast benign and malignant tumours and normal tissue to test whether CS-E is present in the cells and stroma and whether this correlates as to the degree of malignancy and possibility of metastases. Identification of CS-E in tissues could aid in the diagnosis of invasive cancer in biopsies where a specific diagnosis may not be possible due to inadequate sampling. Diagnosis of invasive cancer would affect treatment options for patients who have colonic and breast biopsies taken. The research will use GD3G7 on archive histology material which will not result in changes to patient diagnoses.
