Research summary
It has been previously documented that adolescents who suffer from depression and self-harm are more likely to use social networking sites. This study aims to find out why this is so. This will be achieved by targeting adolescents who are in hospital for self-harm and administering questionnaires asking about their use of social networking sites. Their responses will be compared to those of adolescents who are in-patients in hospital for a reason other than mental ill health.
