Research summary
The case files of six deceased individuals who had brought a successful asbestos related lung cancer personal injury claim will be examined. The case files will include NHS hospital records, general practitioner records, post mortem reports, statements of employment and records of exposure to asbestos of the deceased and an evaluation of the clinical and pathological characteristics of the asbestos related carcinomas will be carried out. The six tumours will be investigated to identify whether they show common pathology, including the cell type and the findings will be assessed and evaluated in the context of the current literature and epidemiology in the field of asbestos related lung cancer.
