  • Research summary

The vision of the programme is to ensure that police and partners across Wales have the right skills, knowledge and processes in place to effectively respond to vulnerability at the earliest opportunity, breaking the generational cycle of crime. The three year Early Action Together (E.A.T.) programme is funded through the Home Office Police Transformation Fund.
This research aligns with the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act (2015) which focusses on improving the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of Wales and mandates public bodies to think more about the long-term, work better with people, their communities and each other, look to prevent problems, and take a more joined-up approach. Additionally, looking to address vulnerability and risk through early intervention approaches underpins the programme with the first two Public Health Wales (PHW) strategic objectives: ‘working in a different way to improve our health’ and ‘giving our children a great start in life’.
The research uses mixed methodology to understand the response to vulnerability and risk by Police Forces in Wales and other partner agencies. It is hoped that the learning will add to the national and international understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the importance of police and partners responding in a trauma-informed way.
