Research summary
The aim of the study is to show that teenagers increase and retain their knowledge of allergy management and adrenaline administration if a training session is given by health care professional rather than just being taught by the parents or obtaining information on the internet.
Focus will be on patients with food allergy and been in pocession of an adrenaline device for at least 2 years
Patients will be recuited from clinic and will either get a questionnaire on the management and a few lifestyle questions( control group) or get a personalised face to face teaching session and then the questionnaire 2-6 weeks later. The control group will still get the training.
Results will be analysed to determine any differences in knowledge.
Current practice is to offer this teaching to all patients becoming more independant so this project is evaluating that practice and therefore no change in practice as a result of this project is foreseen.REC name
