Research summary
This is a retrospective data collection study in the use of the alfapump and the treatment of malignant ascites (accumulation of fluid in the belly). Patients with malignant ascites often require repeat large volume paracentesis (LVP) (draining of large volumes of fluid built up in the belly). The alfapump offers the possibility to continuously drain the ascites from the belly into the bladder. Anonymous data will be collected from records of deceased patients. The study will be conducted in UK, Germany and Switzerland and from July to November 2017.
