  • Research summary

This study aims to investigate immune mechanisms of airway epithelial cells from patients with airways diseases. Patients undergoing bronchoscopy or lung resection will be recruited, with bronchial brushings and bronchoalveolar lavage, or resected tissue being transferred to the Respiratory Medicine Unit laboratories. Cells of interest will be isolated from these materials, cultured and stimulated to allow measurement of cell responses. We aim to identify any differences between patient groups which could ultimately help to improve direction of drugs to those who will find them most beneficial.
