  • Research summary

Patients with colorectal symptoms are frequently referred to have in-patient investigations including colonic imaging. In the presence of symptoms suggestive of colorectal cancer, some of these patients may be referred for urgent colonic imaging but only a fraction of those investigated urgently will actually be diagnosed with colorectal cancer. We aim to assess the use of immunological faecal occult blood testing as a means of delineating those patients for whom colonic imaging should be expedited.
