  • Data collection arrangements

Personal identifiers including name, address and referring doctor will be stored linked to basic clinical information at the time of presentation including birth weights, age of onset of diabetes, associated medical issues and diagnostic test results. At 5 year intervals information will be collected on growth and health using a short questionnaire direct to the family. Data will be collected through a questionnaire administered by the referring clinicians following consent from the patients.

  • Research programme

This research database is to support patients with transient neonatal diabetes. It enables the research group to contact patients again with this rare condition to discover the long term outcome for patients who present at birth with diabetes. While it is known that diabetes can recur it is hoped that gathering information on the worlds only such database of patients will provide more insights into this rare condition and what causes it.
