  • Research summary

This study aims to determine whether motion sensors worn by patients can accurately determine the position of the hip joint. The motion sensors are about the size of a small matchbox and are strapped to the patients calf and/or thigh with an elastic band, they contain various motion detectors similar to those found in modern smartphones. Some patients may also wear a sensor on their lower back held in place by an elasticated waist band. The motion sensor data will be compared with X-rays and CT scans taken of the same patients as part of their routine investigations for various hip conditions.
