Research summary
Respiratory Analytics will conduct a randomised, prospective, controlled parallel study to evaluate the role and potential for improved inhalation technique and adherence and improved asthma symptom control and risk assessment capability of the aflo™ digital platform, for patients who use metred dose inhalers (MDI) in a primary care setting. The study will recruit n = 104 patients with uncontrolled asthma across GP practices in the North-West of Northern Ireland. The data collected over a 24 week period will be used to determine whether the afloTM platform improves inhalation technique and user adherence to prescribed medication. During the study clinicians will be able to remotely monitor and review user analytics via a clinical dashboard. Asthma control test (ACT) measurements will be recorded at start and end of study.
