Data collection arrangements
Raw data from assessments will be kept under patients files with a copy of the consent form. Data will be collected through assessments and then entered in to the database. Data entered will include basic demographic information and the results of structured assessments.
Research programme
The database will essentially become a contacts databse in which service users are matched up with suitable research studies, mainly by the Assistant Psychologist, and overseen by Lead Clinician for the Affective Pisorders Pathway, Consultant Psychiatrist. Collection of the data to be inputted will take part once a service user has agreed to meet with the research team and complete the consent process, data collected from the standardised diagnostic assessments.will be inputted into the database. Completion of standardised diagnostic assessments will improve diagnostic clarity and assist the clinical team with their decisions regarding clinical care. Service users will also be given the opprtunity to take part in research trials that offer new and innovative interventions. This may offer alternative avenues to access treatments whilst on waiting lists (for example, accessing psychological therapy). This will hopefully improve rates of recruitment into approved research studies within the Affective Disorders Pathway.
