Research summary
Many genetic disorders affect the kidney, including but not limited to Polycystic kidney disease and Aloport's syndrome causing suffering to those afflicted. New treatments are desperately needed to improve the quality of life for these patients.
Research scientists at AdVia Therapeutics UK are developing new therapies for the treatment of kidney diseases for which there are currently limited or no cures or in some cases approved therapies. This project is a laboratory based project and will look at how immune stimulants or immunotherapies interact with blood cells and plasma components. In some cases blood components may inhibit or block the interaction of our therapy and we would like to characterize and understand this in order to prevent it. We can also observe pro-inflammatory effects on the cells to see if our new agents are likely to be safe and well tolerated in humans. We may also conduct comparative studies in blood.
No identifiable information from the patient is required and none will be sought.
