• Research summary

  In this study we will ask research participants who are undergoing a lumbar puncture (LP) for other research studies taking place at the Dementia Research Centre to consider giving their consent for an additional sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to be collected during the lumbar puncture procedure. This will not involve any additional procedures; the extra CSF will be collected during the planned lumbar puncture and will add approximately 1 minute to the LP procedure. The additional CSF collected will be used in a range of analyses which we anticipate will provide important information in helping to distinguish different dementia diagnoses and will also contribute to the validation of new methods of analysing CSF samples.
