  • Research summary

This is a preliminary study to see if measurements of lung sounds are valid and reproducible in bronchiectasis patients. We hope to measure the sounds from the chest and be able to use these to monitor patients. The sounds we would like to monitor are the cough over a twenty four hour period and also the crackle sounds that are commonly found in patients with bronchiectasis. It is important to first validate the techniques and understand if these could be of value for future studies.
A tool for monitoring lung sounds could potentially be used to detect early changes and exacerbations of the disease.
