  • Research summary

Following an injury to the knee, some patients require surgery to prevent the knee moving abnormally and limiting function. In trying to replace the function of the torn ligament (Anterior Cruciate Ligament), it is important to try to put the new tissue in the correct place and get it to heal strongly. We want to know if we can see a difference (on scans) in the position and healing of this tissue when we use new ways of performing this operation. If so, we will set-up a larger study to look at the improvements in more detail and see whether the new methods are worthwhile in terms of the function the patient is aware of.
