Research summary
We plan to retrospectively review the accuracy of ultrasound imaging in diagnosing placental anomalies during the first half of pregnancy including: molar pregnancy, scar pregnancies, ectopic pregnancy, placenta praevia, accreta placentation and anomalies of the umbilical cord. The ultrasound data will be compared with histopathology and biochemistry data. The aim of the study is to identify new ultrasound signs that we will be able to use prospectively in clinical setting to improve the diagnostic accuracy for these conditions in early pregnancy.
