Research summary
In 2008 the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH), the British HIV Association (BHIVA) and the British Infection Society published UK National Guidelines for HIV Testing which recommended that women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) at grade 2 or above attending colposcopy should be routinely offered HIV testing. Whilst this is a recommendation, routine HIV testing of women with CIN 2+ has not been implemented across the country. We propose to investigate patient acceptability of routine HIV screening amongst women attending a colposcopy clinic using questionnaires and in-depth interviews.
