Research summary
This study will explore the relationship between a patient's blood group and their chance of survival following critical illness. Although the chances of survival from diseases such as cancer have been linked to a certain ABO blood group subtypes, this has not been studied in critical illness. This study will only use fully anonymous data, already collected as part of a patient's routine clinical care between January 2006 and January 2016 from the intensive care unit in Cardiff.
