A randomized, parallel group study (with positive control group) to compare the efficacy on plaque and gingivitis, of an electric toothbrush and a flat trimmed toothbrush in subjects that have no formal toothbrushing training and in subjects that have formal toothbrushing training and will use the flat trimmed toothbrush.

Research summary
The primary objective of this 12 week multi-centre clinical study is to compare the ability of the Colgate ProClinical 1500 Electric Toothbrush relative to the Oral B Indicator Flat Trimmed Manual Toothbrush in removing plaque and reduce signs of gum inflammation when used by participants who have had no formal toothbrushing training (electric brush) or by participants who have had formal toothbrushing training, who will use the Oral B Indicator flat trimmed toothbrush. The aim is determine how well the electric brush works in untrained hands when compared to a standard manual brush used by a trained individual.
