Research summary
The principle aim of this study is to evaluate the lived experience of pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer patients receiving molecular targeted therapies used in this condition (Sunitanib Malate and Everolimus.) A qualitative method will be used, exploring this complex multifaceted experience. A phenomenological line of enquiry it to be used in the form of unstructured patient interviews. Patients receiving an oral anti-cancer agent at home are required to balance this with their other roles, functions, thoughts and feelings around this treatment. Phenomenology examines practical issues within the lived experience of a particular experience, rendering it ideal for this project.
