Research summary
The aim of the study is to produce a standardised care plan document for use in elderly care homes in England. The study will be informed using three phases.
Phase 1) A comprehensive systematic literature review regarding documentation practices in elderly care homes and other health and social care areas, if comparable, and relevant to the study.
Phase 2) A documentary review of existing care planning documents currently used by elderly care providers in England through obtaining blank copies for comparison.
These include Local Authority and Clinical Commissioning Group, commissioning checklists to be obtained in addition to the Care Quality Commission's Fundamental Standards to map current documentation, used by the elderly care providers, with those of their regulators.
Phase 3) The data mined from the previous two phases will inform the testable element of the research project. A Delphi survey will be sent to a panel of experts in the field, with the aim to reach consensus over four rounds, on a universal document which may be used by elderly care providers in England.
Each survey will be submitted to TU and HRA ethics committee prior to sending to participants.REC name
