  • Research summary

This study aims to find people who have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) but do not yet know they have it. COPD is a common lung disease that can cause coughing, shortness of breath, and wheezing. Many people who have long-term health problems may also have COPD without knowing it.

The study will take place in clinics where people are already receiving care for these long-term conditions. We will ask participants to complete a short questionnaire about their breathing and any symptoms they may have. Based on their answers, some participants will be asked to take a simple breathing test called spirometry, which measures how well their lungs are working.

The main goal of the study is to find out how common undiagnosed COPD is in people with other long-term conditions, and to see how well the questionnaire works to spot people who may have COPD.

By identifying people with COPD earlier, they can receive treatment and support to improve their health and quality of life. The study will also help healthcare providers understand how to better detect COPD in at-risk groups.
