    The study seeks to identify the types of standardisation experienced by nurses in their day-to-day practice and to understand and explore how and why nurses may or may not decide to conform to standardisation within their own practice. In essence, as the title suggests, the study is seeking to explore and understand the extent of professional discretion within community nursing, at a particular NHS Trust, against an environmental background of increased standardisation.The study will contribute to better understanding of professional discretion amongst community nurses and the consequential implications for management control.
