Research summary
This study in an investigator led research study, which is funded independently by 3M. The study is part of a wider collaboration between 3M and Newcastle University exploring the potential of 3M’s new Single Visit Crown (SVC).
This pilot study sits within a larger body of research work. The overall aim of the research is to assess the clinical and economic performance of the SVC and compare this to established crown fabrication techniques
This pilot trial It will compare two proposed variations of the SVC placement technique. The trial will also simulate a planned randomised control trial protocol that may one day be used to compare the SVC against an established crown fabrication technique in a large multicentre trial.
Ultimately after this pilot trial there should be sufficient information to determine if the aforementioned randomised control trial is warranted. If this proves to be the case then it is hoped that the following protocol will provide the basis for and inform the design of such a study.REC name
