Research summary
7Tesla MRI is a cutting edge brain scanning technique that allows us to measure in intricate detail the way that groups of cells in different brain areas are structured, how they are activated during different tasks, and how they communicate with each other in the brain.
Detailed understanding of these processes in healthy individuals is essential to enable us to effectively study how they go wrong in patients with diseases such as dementia. By observing these brain networks over time, we can also gain valuable insights into how they change during normal ageing.
