Research summary
This study will explore the anatomy of the greater palatine artery and other important anatomical structures such as the sinus in relation to the upper molar teeth using three dimensional radiographs. From these radiographs, measurements will be taken to determine how close the passage of this artery is to the upper molar teeth so as to determine how safely surgery may be performed on the roots of these teeth without damaging this artery and preventing unwanted complications such as excessive bleeding. The study will also look at determining from these scans the presence of disease within the sinus and how the upper molar teeth may have been a contributory factor.
