Jonathan Fennelly-Barnwell became the Interim Director of Approvals in January 2026.
Jonathan was previously the Deputy Director of Approvals, and came into post in 2018. Following senior roles in post-graduate education, policy and service improvement, Jonathan has worked in research ethics since 2010 in operational and collaboration roles, making him one of two members of the Executive Committee who have been with the HRA since its inception.
Jonathan's academic background is in medical ethics and law. His doctoral research was in AI, ethics and the normalisation of change.
