New Ethics Review Advisory Group meets for the first time

Last updated on 27 May 2021

Our new Ethics Review Advisory Group met for the first time on Friday 21 May.

The advisory group, which is chaired by our non-executive director Professor Andrew George, will be giving advice and input into the Ethics Review Programme, led by Juliet Tizzard, Director of Policy and Partnerships.

Through the programme, we are changing ethics review to be more innovative, efficient and trusted:

  • clear and concise study information designed with and for patients
  • a fast, proportionate review focused on key ethical issues in a consistent way
  • a rewarding experience for diverse, skilled and committed members
  • a streamlined and user-friendly service, attracting world-leading health research in the UK

The first meeting of the Advisory Group focused on members getting to know one another and hearing their thoughts about what the programme should focus on. With people who are REC members and public contributors as well as those who work in pharma, academic research, charities and R&D, the group will make a valuable contribution to the programme.

More details about the group and minutes from the meetings will be available on the website soon.
