Research registration, research project identifiers and plans for dissemination of research findings

The HRA is committed to increasing transparency in health research. The HRA has statutory duties to promote research transparency.

Research registration

The HRA expects that all research is registered through an appropriate research register. Please see our Resources page on the website for further details, including guidance for applicants and sponsors.

Where available, research registry reference numbers should be entered in your IRAS dataset so that they are included in your application form(s).

Project identifiers, including the IRAS ID

Each project in IRAS is allocated an IRAS ID. This is visible to you throughout project navigation in the system. We recommend that you quote this identifier as a point of reference when seeking advice from review bodies.

All other available project reference numbers should be entered in your IRAS dataset so that they may be included in your application form(s).

Intentions to publish/ make data or tissues available

The HRA expects that research should be appropriately published, whether or not the findings were conclusive. See our views on research transparency.
